More than 100 children, along with members of their families, attended the City of Raiford’s annual Breakfast with Santa at the town Community Center on Dec. 4.

A breakfast of pancakes and sausage was cooked up by Raiford Mayor Lamar Griffis, city council members and friends and served to a hungry group of adults and children more interested in Santa and the present table than the food.

The event was sponsored by the Town of Raiford.  Gifts were donations gathered in a box at the Raiford Dollar General Store.  Children got to sit on Santa’s lap, or on a bench next to him, and tell him their holiday dreams and wishes. They then received a bag of treats from the “jolly old elf” and proceeded to the gift table where Elixson passed out wrapped gifts.  Griffis said that any leftover gifts would be donated to a toy drive being conducted by Mindy Bennett.

“In Raiford, we consider ourselves both as a community and an extended family,” Griffis said.  “The town government enjoys providing programs such as this to strengthen these bonds in the community.”

Paisley Noegal has gotten her share of the Christmas goodies and is looking to see what else there is to do a the Breakfast with Santa event in Raiford.
Santa has an armful while he takes the Christmas requests from Anderson and Alton Griffis.
Stella Desire seems a little shy about talking to Santa, but her brothers, Jorden and Treavon have already gotten their requests in and are waiting for her to speak.
