Brooks is medalist for KHHS girls golfers in Sept. 1 team win

Keystone Heights High School’s Aubrey Brooks took the individual win in helping her team defeat Orange Park in a Sept. 1 girls golf match at Orange Park’s Eagle Harbor Golf Club.

The Indians had a team score of 247 to Orange Park’s 301.

Ridgeview also participated, but didn’t have enough golfers for a team score.

Keystone dominated the top 10 individually. Brooks shot a 51 to earn medalist honors, while teammate Jillian Huntley was runner-up at 63. The Indians’ Bryley Lee and Jasmine Walls were fourth and fifth, respectively, with scores of 65 and 68.

Rebbecca Binet shot a seventh-place score of 72 for the Indians, who also got an eighth-place score from Evie Hallberg.

Brooks followed that performance with a third-place showing in a Sept. 3 match against Baker County and Columbia at Lake City’s Quail Heights Country Club.

Columbia topped the team standings with a score of 200. Keystone and Baker County had scores of 243 and 272, respectively.

Brooks made par on two holes and finished at 47, which was four strokes behind medalist Rayna Hardin of Columbia and two strokes behind runner-up Estella Bauer of Columbia.

Huntley and teammate Zoey Gill were seventh and eighth, respectively, with scores of 61 and 62. Gill made par on one hole.

The Indians’ Evelyn Bardier and Averi Hemphill tied for 10th, with each shooting a 73.
