Brooks places 3rd in KHHS girls golf team’s 1st 2 matches

Keystone Heights High School got a third-place finish from Aubrey Brooks, but dropped a girls golf match against Middleburg on Aug. 26 at Orange Park’s Eagle Landing Golf Club.

The Indians (0-2) had a team score of 270, which left them trailing Middleburg by 53 strokes.

Orange Park didn’t have a team score, but also participated in the match with two players.

Brooks made a birdie and finished with a score of 55.

Rebecca Binet and Jasmine Walls finished seventh and eighth, respectively, for Keystone with scores of 69 and 70.

The Indians also had the following compete: Ashlynn Duncan 76, Ila Miller 80 and Averi Hemphill 81.

Keystone opened the season with a loss to Oak Hall on Aug. 20 at Gainesville’s Hawkstone Country Club. Oak Hall had a team score of 224 to the Indians’ 280.

Brooks tied for third with a score of 55, while Emily Cunningham tied for sixth with a score of 74.

Binet and Jillian Huntley, who made a birdie, placed eighth and ninth, respectively, with scores of 75 and 76.

Zoey Gill shot a 10th-place score of 77 while Walls was 11th with a score of 78.

Keystone will play Oakleaf and St. Johns Classical Academy on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 3:30 p.m. at Green Cove Springs’ Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club. On Tuesday, Sept. 3, the Indians travel to Gainesville’s Ironwood Golf Course to play Gainesville at 3:30 p.m.
