
Bradford County Fire Rescue units were dispatched at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 21 to the report of a brush fire in the area of Southeast 15th Avenue and Southeast 144th Street.
Upon arrival, units were able to gain access to the fire and quickly determine the fire was large in size. The fire was found to be partially located in both Bradford and Clay County, and also within the Chemours property.
Clay County Fire Rescue was contacted and requested to respond as mutual aid resources. Firefighters secured the homes and structures in the area to prevent any property damage. The Florida Forest Service was also requested to respond. Once on scene, three DOF dozers were deployed in an attempt to secure the fire and prevent further spread.
The fire, in total, was estimated to be 250 acres in size. Units were released from the fire at 8:45 p.m. after the fire was deemed to be under control.
According to Bradford County Fire Rescue, you may notice smoke in the area. The Florida Forest Service along with Bradford County Fire Rescue units will continually check the property throughout the week.
