STARKE— A 39-year-old Starke woman was arrested after Bradford deputies viewed a video of her lunging at one of her neighbors with a butcher knife.

Dorothy Diane Griffin was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Wednesday, Nov. 3.

According to an arrest report, deputies responded to a report of a fight at the Shady Creek Mobile Home Park on Southeast County Road 230A (Bethel Church Road).

There, Griffin told deputies that she and several other people got into a fight with a group over one of her neighbors shooting her cat.

Arresting officer Paul King wrote in the report that an argument started over Griffin’s accusation that the victim’s son shot Griffin’s cat.

“During the argument Dorothy became irate and grabbed a butcher knife from her residence,” wrote King. “Dorothy lunged at (the victim) with the knife. The knife fell out of Dorothy’s hand and (the victim) and Dorothy went to the ground and started physically fighting.”

At that point, both groups started fighting before being separated.

King added that a video provided to law enforcement clearly showed the defendant retrieving the weapon from her home and lunging at the victim before both went to the ground and began fighting.
