LAKE BUTLER—Cord Byrd, the Secretary of State of Florida, has certified the candidate names appearing on the Presidential Preference Primary, to be held on March 19, 2024. There are seven names on the Republican ballot but only one on the Democratic ballot.
Candidates on the Republican Party of Florida ballot are Ryan L. Binkley, Chris Christie, Ron DeSantis, Nikki R. Haley, Asa Hutchinson, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Donald J. Trump.
The only candidate on the Florida Democratic Party ballot is Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Since there is only a single Democrat running, there will be no ballot for that party – only voters from the Republican Party will be allowed to vote.
Voters must remember that they will only be allowed to vote in the party they are registered in. If a voter is not sure what party they are registered with, they should call the Supervisor of Elections Office in their county.
In Union County, voters can call (386) 496-2236 or run by the 175 W. Main St. office in Lake Butler. Any changes to the party of registration or to register to vote must be made before the books close on Feb. 20, 2024, to be allowed to vote in the Presidential Preference Primary. Voters should also remember that their handwriting changes as they age, so updating their signature card might be a good idea. Signatures are used to verify voter identity and must match the signature on file.
