Bradford Community Healthcare Auxiliary has been on a mission since the county’s first hospital was built. Today, its loyal members continue working to raise funds out of the sheriff’s office.

The auxiliary’s most recent donation — more than $4,500 — replaced worn jump bags for rescue workers. The grab-and-go bags carry emergency medical supplies for first responders. They receive a lot of wear and tear, but they are not inexpensive to replace. Fire Chief Ben Carter said they were directing funding to other areas and limping along using the bags they had. The donation allowed the agency to splurge a bit on its employees.

The eight new bags are made of an impermeable material, making them more durable. Carter and county commissioners thanked the group for its donation of time and money on behalf of the county’s first responders.
