GREEN COVE SPRINGS— County Manager Howard Wanamaker said JTA will not charge riders on Clay County routes during October.
The Jacksonville-based transportation agency took over the operation of Clay’s flex routes in 2018 when the Council on Aging, which previously operated the routes, encountered financial difficulty.
Two JTA routes run through the Lake Region. The Magenta Line runs between Keystone Heights and the RTS Station in downtown Gainesville with stops in Lake Geneva and Orange Heights.
The Green Line also originates in Keystone Heights and terminates at the Middleburg VA clinic with stops in Penny Farms, Green Cove Springs, Fleming Island and Doctor’s Inlet.
Wanamaker said the free rides will be a part of the transportation agency’s marketing and outreach program.
