County Commissioner Betsy Condon said Clay County Government has been notified by Facebook on several occasions that its posts announcing the opening of its public gun range are inappropriate for the social media platform.
In response, the county has been calling the gun range an “Outdoor Adventure Park” on Facebook when publicizing the venue’s ribbon cutting on Sept. 29 and open house the following day.
The 200-yard, 30-target-lane gun range is between Camp Blanding and Middleburg. The range accommodates two people in each of the 30 bays. Shooters can use any firearm up to .50 caliber, semi-automatic and fully automatic. The sheriff’s office will use the range on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The facility will be open to the public for the rest of the week.
