Clay Electric increases one charge, decreases another

Clay Electric Cooperative said it is increasing its energy charge and simultaneously reducing its power cost adjustment, resulting in no cost changes for its members.

“We understand the importance of stable and predictable energy costs, and we are working diligently to ensure that these adjustments do not place an undue burden on our members,” said Chief Public Relations Officer Derick Thomas in a news release.

The utility has adjusted its power cost adjustment many times over the last couple of years, reflecting market fluctuations in the cost of natural gas, the primary fuel of its power supplier, Seminole Electric. However, the last time Clay Electric changed its energy cost was in 2001, over 20 years ago.
