KEYSTONE HEIGHTS— Clay Electric trustees Jo Ann R. Smith, Carl Hagglund and Karen Hastings all qualified to run for reelection to the board of trustees, while no one else qualified to run for the seats during district meetings earlier this month.
Smith’s District 8 covers Levy, Southern Marion and Lake counties.
She was an assistant secretary for marketing and inspection services for the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1989 to 1993.
Smith was first elected as a trustee in 2012.
Hagglund represents the Keystone Heights district (District 1), which includes Clay County south of State Road 16, in addition to western Putnam County.

He is a co-op retiree and was first elected to the board of trustees in 2013.
Hastings represents District 9, which includes Volusia and Flagler counties, in addition to the southern portions of Putnam and Marion counties. She is a retired realtor and has served as a trustee since 1995.
Each year, three of the co-op’s nine board seats are up for reelection.
