The past has revealed evidence of ghosts and ghouls in many haunts around the city at this time of year. As cooler days usher in the Fall season, witches, ghosts and goblins entertain on Halloween with tricks and treats for all. The assortment of inspired costumes and imagination expressed in themes displayed by many bring the true magic of the season to life.
Halloween is a time when all should let the inner child hiding inside them have a chance to get out to play. This release of imaginative expression is the what keeps cultural traditions alive. Several areas have had many sightings of mysterious beings from ghouls and goblins to unicorns, dinosaurs and witches of all sorts. There was no limit to what could be seen.
All the fantastic creatures gathered where offerings of goodwill and prosperity abound. Groups have gathered around town at churches and areas known for consistent sightings, where security is paramount. The Union County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO) has provided safe zones with flashing lights to indicate safe passage for both humans and the minions to pass in peace and security.
Many thanks are due to the UCSO deputies for braving this annual event. One of the most popular haunts in the neighbor-hood is next to the Reception Medical Center These residents of CO housing decorated and provided treats and activities to appease one thousand or more roaming denizens of All Hallows Eve.
Halloween truly opens the season of harvest and bounty. Over time, perhaps eons, man has expressed thanks for a bountyful harvest with offerings of their finest crops in hope of continuing bounty for years to come. The recipients of these offerings varied with tradition and culture. Some offerings were to religious organizations and some were to landlords for rent or sharecropping.
These offerings have evolved into todays tradition of tricks and treats to provide the young with sweets that inspire the magic that makes this season special.
As Fall passes with a steady pace into winter, excitement builds as preparations are made for Thanksgiving lurking in the shadows weeks away and Christmas looming on the horizon. Many plans are coming into focus for a joyous New Year.
