KEYSTONE HEIGHTS— Clay County Commissioners James Renninger and Betsy Condon were awarded the Advanced County Commissioner Level 1 designation from the Institute for County Government.

Condon represents the Lake Region on the board of county commissioners.  Renninger represents the Orange Park area.

Both commissioners were recognized during the Florida Association of Counties annual conference in Orlando on June 30.

The Advanced County Commissioner Level 1 program consists of three, two-day seminars and 27 hours of total coursework, focusing on leadership development with an emphasis on the future of Florida.

Sixteen other Florida commissioners earned the designation this year.

During the same conference, the Florida Association of Counties presented Commissioner Mike Cella with the Presidential Advocacy Award for his work during the 2022 legislative session.

The award recognizes county commissioners who have shown exceptional leadership during the legislative session to advance counties’ legislative agenda and preserve home rule.
