STARKE— One week after his acquittal on grand theft charges, former Bradford County Commissioner John Cooper settled the last case against him.
Cooper pleaded no contest to grand theft, while the state dropped a second charge of fraud. Under a plea agreement, Cooper will serve 10 years’ probation and pay $21,884 in restitution.
The charges stemmed from an estate which Cooper collected mortgage payments for, and a judge ruled he overbilled the estate by over $24,000. Cooper is currently serving a 21-month sentence for an unrelated charge of grand theft from a person 65 years or older and is scheduled to be released from the Department of Corrections on Sept. 29, 2022.
