STARKE‑ Bradford deputies said a Lake City couple abducted a boy from the Hampton area at gunpoint and shot a firearm toward the minor’s mother.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Le’Marcus D. Rayford and his girlfriend, Leilani R. Cheevers went to the residence, with Rayford exiting the vehicle with a firearm and abducting the boy. As Cheevers drove away, Rayford fired a round toward the residence.
Sheriff’s Lt. Kevin Mueller said investigators tracked Rayford and Cheevers to Columbia County. He added that when interviewed by Bradford detectives in Lake City, both defendants refused to talk and were arrested. The boy was turned over to his paternal grandparents.
