Tavaris Syntron Baker, 18, of Gainesville, was arrested by Bradford deputies on May 20 for battery and aggravated battery.
According to a sworn complaint, Deputy Christopher Gardiner responded to a U.S. Highway 301 North residence around 10:51 a.m. May 8 in reference to an assault. According to the affidavit, the victim told deputies she and Baker, her boyfriend, had been arguing in a vehicle as he was driving her home. She said Baker called her derogatory names after she asked to retrieve her belongings from the vehicle.
The victim told deputies Baker then got out of the vehicle, grabbed her by the neck and began choking her to the point she could not breathe, the affidavit states. Her mother came out of the residence and tried to intervene, according to the report.
