LAKE BUTLER—According to an arrest report, Union County deputies arrested two Gainesville men after they attempted to cash fraudulent checks at Lake Butler’s Spires IGA.
Brandon Lenard Washington, 26, and Kalvin Donnell Bryant, 32, were both arrested for uttering a forged instrument.
Deputies said the pair tried to cash checks from two Gainesville businesses: a $781.12 check from Aramark and a $623.38 check from CCS Construction Staffing. Officers also briefly detained a third person with the two men but determined she had no ties to the forged checks. Spires trespassed all three from its property.
