A Starke man who gained notoriety in 2010 by winning the RuPaul Drag Race in the reality competition’s second season has pleaded to disorderly intoxication and witness tampering.
James Ross was sentenced to a year in jail with credit for 51 days already served. He will also remain on probation for one year and perform 50 hours of community service.
According to court documents, the defendant called the State Attorney’s Office and the Starke Police Department, threatening and harassing the defendants. Police also said Ross used a sex toy to make obscene gestures to passing motorists near Starke’s Walgreens. Earlier charges of resisting an officer and assault against the 35-year-old, who performs under the name Tyara Sanchez, were dropped.
