The members of Starke’s First Baptist Church will vote on May 31 whether or not to become affiliated with Jacksonville-based Church of the Eleven22, effectively ending First Baptist Church after 149 years.
According to written answers provided to First Baptist Church members, if the motion is approved, Eleven22 will provide five staff members to the Starke congregation. One would be a campus pastor who would serve full-time and meet the pastoral needs of the congregation, like hospital and home visits, weddings, and funerals. Other staff members include a worship pastor, youth pastor, children’s pastor and secretary. The worship pastor will lead music during Sunday morning worship. However, preaching will be led by Lead Pastor Joby Martin, from the church’s San Pablo campus, viewed live on a large screen by the church’s other locations.
