The Bradford County Farmers Market & Fall Festival, postponed from Oct. 10 because of weather concerns, is now set for Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. under the cattle barn. Pumpkins from Triple C Produce will be available, along with a free fall photo booth. Vendors will offer baked goods, fresh produce, handmade crafts, jewelry, candles and soaps, cotton candy and popcorn, fresh eggs, and canned goods and jellies.
Also on Oct. 17, The Arc of Bradford County hosts its 22nd annual Fall Festival beginning at 10 a.m. at 10501 Hampton Ave. in Hampton, the former Hampton Elementary School. Admission is free. The family-friendly event benefits individuals with intellectual and developmental differences.
The festival’s headline attraction is Cow Patty Bingo, which carries a $1,000 grand prize. Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased online. The day will also include concessions, pumpkin carving, a vendor market, raffles and giveaways, and the Arc’s thrift store will be open. Full details are available at thearcbradford.org/fallfestival.
Bradford Elementary School will hold its Track or Treat event Friday, Oct. 23, from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. on the school’s track as part of its Title I family engagement program. To stock up for the event, the school is running a candy challenge. Students are asked to bring two bags of candy to their homeroom teachers. The class that donates the most candy by Thursday, Oct. 15, will win a pizza party from school administrators. Businesses may also donate on behalf of a homeroom.
Brooker Community School’s Fall Festival is Saturday, Oct. 24. A parade begins at 4:30 p.m., and the festival opens at 5 p.m. Admission is free. Armbands cost $10 and cover all booth games, the hayride, the zip line and the bounce house. Individual tickets are 50 cents each, and raffle tickets are $1. The dunking booth costs two tickets, the cake walk costs 50 cents or one ticket, and bingo is $2 per game. Cash and electronic payments will be accepted.
The school is also looking for high school students to help run booths from 4 to 9 p.m. that day, and volunteers can earn service hours. Those interested can contact JoAnn Hickox-Moody at joann.hickox-moody@brookercs.org.
The Arc will also benefit from the Witches Ride on Friday, Oct. 30, starting at 6 p.m. at Downtown Grill. Participants are invited to ride with witches around town by bicycle, golf cart, side-by-side or truck, and organizers encourage everyone to dress up their rides. Adults can enjoy a wine tasting with snacks. Participation is a $25 donation.
The month wraps up Saturday, Oct. 31, with Pumpkin Escape in downtown Starke from 5 to 8 p.m. The free event features a cake walk, a DJ and music, games and plenty of free candy. Children are encouraged to wear their costumes and bring candy bags.
