The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting at least one fatality at a traffic crash near the intersection of State Road 100 and King Street in Keystone Heights.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office first reported the collision around midnight Thursday morning, adding that both lanes of the State Road were blocked.

Tiffany Nicole said on social media that she witnessed the crash.

“Just got off work at McDonald’s and saw the accident,” she wrote on a Facebook comment. I think two silver vehicles were involved, a car and an SUV. One was supposedly speeding at 100 mph and hit the other.”

A Gainesville television station said that, according to troopers, a 35-year-old man was driving a sedan northbound on Sunrise Boulevard approaching the intersection with State Road 100 in Keystone Heights at around midnight.

“A 58-year-old man was driving an SUV eastbound on State Road 100, approaching the same intersection,” reported WCJB. “The driver of the sedan failed to stop at a stop sign and hit the SUV.”

A Lake Region Monitor correspondent photographed a tow truck pulling a silver sedan from the side of the road.
