
KEYSTONE HEIGHTS— The former athletic director for Clay County Public Schools has filed to run for the Clay County Board of County Commissioners.
John Sgromolo spent two years in the Los Angeles Dodger organization as a minor league baseball player, then taught and coached in Clay County until he was promoted to athletic director for the public school district. Today he is the athletic director for St. Johns Country Day School.
The Fleming Island resident is running for the District 1 seat, now held by Mike Cella, who will be termed out in 2024.
