Griffin places 8th, KHHS boys are 5th at Run Matanzas meet

Keystone Heights High School placed fifth out of 19 boys teams, led by Tyler Griffin’s eighth-place finish at the Sept. 30 Run Matanzas Invitational in Palm Coast.

Griffin had a time of 18:24 for the Indians, who placed behind New Smyrna Beach, DeLand, Oakleaf and Matanzas.

Ryder Thomas just missed on a top-10 finish with an 11th-place time of 18:36. An additional five runners placed in the top half of the 202-runner field: Anthony Peak with a 52nd-place time of 20:56, Hunter Sheppard with a 62nd-place time of 21:32, Jaden Park with a 63rd-place time of 21:33, Bryce Huntley with a 64th-place time of 21:36 and Josiah Durrenberger with a 100th-place time of 23:19.

Keystone also had the following results: Kipton Spence 23:49, Jason Parales 24:03, Mason Gray 24:19, Hunter Gray 25:30, Eli Rabe 26:26 and Oliver Miller 28:19.

Olivia Griffin placed ninth in the 141-member girls race with a time of 22:14. Melody Tyre placed in the top half of the field as well with a 67th-place time of 27:26.

The following also ran: Cali Chamberlain 28:08, Brook Graudons 28:42, Alonah Neeld 28:57, Madilyn Miller 31:53, Ella Hutchins 32:38, Clara Beth Robinson 33:13, Kirsten Lavin 34:02 and Schiley Starling 34:26.

Elyn Reddish, representing Keystone Running Club, had a time of 30:04.
