Griffin scores 33 in BHS girls’ win over P.K.

Nichelle Brown and Ar’Nayshia Griffin combined to score 57 points, with Griffin pouring in 33 in the Bradford High School girls basketball team’s 76-44 win over P.K. Yonge on Dec. 6 in Gainesville.

Griffin, who is averaging 20 points per game, also reached double digits in rebounds with 10. She has double-doubles in points and rebounds in all but one of the Tornadoes’ five games and is averaging 12 boards per game.

It was an efficient night for Griffin and Brown. Griffin was 12 of 18 from the field and 8 of 9 from the foul line, while Brown earned her 24 points off 10-of-13 shooting and a 3-of-3 performance at the foul line.

Brown led the team in blocked shots with nine, steals with six and assists with four. She also grabbed five rebounds.

Griffin and Kailyn Teal each had three steals.

The Tornadoes (3-2) also got eight points from Kahmyra Hankerson, five points from Ky’lee Johnson, four points from Teal and two points from Nyasia Lopey. Hankerson and Johnson had seven and six rebounds, respectively.

Bradford played Episcopal this past Tuesday and will travel to play District 3-3A Palatka on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 6:30 p.m. The Tornadoes host Suwannee on Friday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. before going on the road again to play Fort White on Monday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, Dec. 18, Bradford hosts Hawthorne at 7 p.m.
