Hampton resident killed in Clay County crash

 A 21-year-old male resident of Hampton was killed in an accident at the intersection of State Road 21 and State Road 16 near Camp Blanding. The incident occurred on Saturday, February 14 at 2:20 p.m.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the 21-year-old collided with a pickup truck. The truck was heading west on 16 and making a left turn onto 21 heading southbound when the sedan, traveling east on 16, entered the path of the truck. The truck struck the passenger side of the sedan, causing it to overturn multiple times.

The driver and passenger of the pickup truck sustained serious injuries, while the 21-year-old sedan driver, who was critically injured, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Multiple units from Clay County Fire Rescue were deployed to the scene, including a Life Flight trauma helicopter.

All occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. It is currently unknown whether speed was a factor in the accident.
