The Lake Butler City Commission re-elected Melissa Hendrix as the municipality’s mayor during the commission’s June 17 meeting.
When City Attorney John Maines asked for nominations, Annette Redman nominated Rondoll Huggins, and Hendrix nominated Fred Sirmones. Huggins nominated Hendrix.
“She laid a true foundation, and I think that we’re headed in the right direction,” Huggins said.
When commissioners voted, Huggins received one vote, Hendrix three, and Sirmones zero.
After the mayor was elected, the commission took nominations for vice mayor. Huggins was the only member nominated.
