High Ridge cleanup yields 4.5 tons of debris

GREEN COVE SPRINGS— Clay County Commissioner Betsy Condon told her colleagues that a recent county-led cleanup of the High Ridge Estates neighborhood east of Keystone Heights resulted in 1.76 tons of trash and 2.81 tons of tires being removed from an area on Baylor Avenue.

She added that the cleanup was funded with a community block development grant. The county’s community services and environmental services departments coordinated the event.

The clean-up area has four homes with residents in them now and an equal number of vacant homes.

The commissioner said over 20 people participated in the cleanup.

-Condon added that nine homes in the neighborhood have racked up over $1.2 million in code enforcement fines and liens.
