Addyson Hinds hit a two-run homer as part of a five-run seventh inning as the Bradford High School softball team defeated host Interlachen 16-11 on April 16.
The Tornadoes (6-13) trailed 3-1 before scoring six runs in the second. Kallie Yowell reached on an error, while Madison Highland and Carly Beggs singled and walked, respectively, to load the bases with one out. Rylie Blankenship drove in a run on a sacrifice fly before Amber Wynn and Keegan Yowell hit back-to-back singles. Yowell’s hit drove in two runs. Hinds followed with a two-run double, while a Summer Sutton single drove in another run, putting Bradford ahead 7-3.
It was 7-6 entering the fifth. Highland and Tinsley Higginbotham both singled before Highland scored on a Beggs double. Blankenship and Wynn each drove in a run on a ground out and a single, respectively, while Hinds hit an RBI double with two outs, giving the Tornadoes an 11-6 lead.
Bradford increased its lead to 16-6 in the top of the seventh. Blankenship singled and stole second before scoring on a Wynn single. Hinds then drove the first pitch she saw over the fence in center for a two-run home run. Highland and Higginbotham would each drive in a run as well.
Hinds finished with five RBI. She and Highland, who had one RBI, each went 4 for 5.
Blankenship and Wynn went 3 for 4 and 3 for 5, respectively, with each batter driving in two runs.
Keegan Yowell finished with three RBI, while Beggs, Higginbotham and Sutton each had one.
The Tornadoes host Union County on Thursday, April 18, at 7 p.m.
