Jacksonville man Corbert Eldell Williams, 21, was captured after crashing into a Florida Highway Patrol vehicle and fleeing the scene.

FHP reported attempting to pull Williams over on State Road 100 near the bypass, but Williams refused to stop.

While fleeing, Williams hit the brakes, forcing the patrol vehicle pursuing him to swerve in order to avoid collision. Williams had other ideas, however, crashing into the trooper and driving away.

The Bradford County Sheriff’s Office and Starke Police Department worked together to track the hit-and-run suspect.

After he was spotted running in the woods behind Pine Forest Apartments, authorities used K-9 assistance to track Williams to his hiding spot within the thick brush.

Williams is facing two charges of aggravated assault on an officer and resisting an officer. He is booked in the Bradford County Jail with bond set at $65,000.
