Hope boys improve to 2-1 with 50-47 win

Aiden Wilson scored 17 points as the Hope Christian Academy boys basketball team bounced back from a two-point, overtime loss, defeating visiting Open Bible 50-47 on Nov. 22.

The Lions (2-1) got 10 points from Zenik Patrick, seven points each from Gunner Loften and Walker Munroe, four points from Brice Flint and three points from Mason Masciocchi.

Wilson and Munroe had four and three steals, respectively.

Hope was coming off a 60-58 loss to host First Christian on Nov. 19. The Lions rallied from a double-digit deficit, outscoring First Christian 24-10 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Munroe led the team in points with 13 and in rebounds with four.

Loften and Patrick each scored nine points, while Wilson had eight. Flint added six points, while Masciocchi and Joele Smith had three and two, respectively.

The Lions will travel to Live Oak to play Westwood Christian on Monday, Dec. 2, at 6:30 p.m., following a junior varsity game at 5 p.m. Hope then travels to Lake City to play Hart 2 Hart on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m.

Hope’s junior varsity team is still seeking its first win. It lost 44-34 to Open Bible and is now 0-2.

The Lions’ varsity and JV girls teams are still seeking their first wins. The varsity team, which is 0-3, lost 47-18 to First Christian on Nov. 19 and 58-5 to Open Bible on Nov. 22. The JV team, which is 0-2, lost 47-24 to First Christian and 32-21 to Open Bible.
