More than two hundred were in attendance at the  Bradford County Library on June 20. The event was third in the lineup of various weekly summer activities offered at the library.

Each week a unique and interactive experience with things like crafts, art projects, magic shows and more is offered to library patrons. This most recent event was extra special because it offered children the chance to pet farm animals, ride ponies, and receive a free geode kit and book  from “the cave”.

New River Library Cooperative Director Tricia Wylie gave each child in attendance a bag to take home that included a geode kit and a book about rocks entitled “A Rock is Lively.” Wylie said the books and kits were purchased with grant money the cooperative received from Florida Humanities.

Staffers including Melanie  Jackson, Tonya Mitchell and Kimberly Crawford have many exciting programs planned for children throughout the summer, and in keeping with the theme “Adventure Begins at your Library,” this was no exception.

The library invites everyone to come check out the weekly events. Jackson said she is especially excited about the upcoming “Read to a Shelter Animal” on July 11. This is in collaboration with the Bradford Animal Services, and residents are encouraged to donate pet supplies at the event.

For more information about this program or many of the other activities provided by the Bradford Public Library, you are encouraged to stop by the library to pick up a calendar of events, call 904-368-3911, or follow the Bradford County Public Library Facebook page for current updates.
