Kayden Huntley scored four goals for the Keystone Heights High School girls soccer team, which defeated District 4-3A opponent Palatka 8-0 on Nov. 8 in Keystone for its second straight win after a loss to open the season.
After Huntley scored the Indians’ first goal in the seventh minute, the team got few good looks until Huntley found the net again in the 20th minute.
Keystone (2-1) almost scored off a Halea Lam corner kick in the 29th minute, but found the mark approximately four minutes later when Huntley scored on a kick from approximately 20 yards out, putting the Indians up 3-0, which was where the score stood at halftime.
It didn’t take long once play resumed for Huntley to get her fourth goal of the night as she sent a rainbow shot into the net in the 42nd minute.
Kaylee Park made the score 5-0 when she scored in the 51st minute.
The Indians later scored three goals in an approximate four-minute span, with shots by Lam and Tayler Buchanan finding the mark before Park enforced the mercy rule with her score in the 65th minute.
Buchanan led the team in assists with three, while Lam had two.
Palatka rarely put itself in position to score, with Keystone’s Aspen Krohn having to make only three saves.
Keystone opened the season with a 3-1 loss at Class 5A Columbia on Nov. 5. Lam scored the lone goal, while Krohn made 11 saves.
The Indians bounced back by defeating Class 5A Ridgeview 2-1 on Nov. 7 in Orange Park. Buchanan scored a goal and assisted on another, which was scored by Park.
Krohn made seven saves.
Keystone travels to play district opponent Eastside on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. and will travel to play Class 2A P.K. Yonge on Friday, Nov. 15, at 5 p.m. The Indians return home to play 2A Newberry on Monday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m. before traveling to play 2A Fort White on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 5 p.m.
