Indians are 7th at Region 1-1A boys golf finals

Keystone Heights High School competed at the Region 1-1A boys golf finals on Oct. 30 at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club, placing seventh with a team score of 335.

The top two teams earned the right to automatically advance to the state finals. Episcopal won the Region 1 title with a score of 294, while Bolles was the runner-up with a 300 score.

Keystone also finished behind Pensacola Catholic (315), Maclay (318), Florida High (319) and Providence (325).

The top two individuals not on the top two teams also automatically qualified for state. At the Region 1 match, those berths were earned by Maclay’s Jack Cook and Lafayette’s Trey Galbraith.

The Indians were led at the Region 1 finals by Connor Guy, who finished in a five-way tie for 12th with an 18-hole score of 78. He had three birdies and made par on five holes.

Guy was ninth among individuals not on the top two teams.

Keystone’s Ty Mitzel and Alexander Addington finished in a four-way tie for 22nd, with each shooting a score of 81. Mitzel had two birdies and made par on eight holes. Addington made par on 11 holes.

Jacob Beach and Nick Binet also competed for the Indians. Beach, who made par on two holes, shot a 95, while Binet, who had a birdie and made par on two holes, shot a 100.

The 72-individual field also included Bradford’s Charlie Zink. He made par on three holes in finishing with a score of 97.
