Visiting Newberry scored two goals in the second half as the Keystone Heights High School boys soccer team had to settle for a 3-3 tie on Dec. 3.
The Indians (4-3-1) scored the first two goals, with the first coming off a penalty kick by Tyler Colaw. Logan Spence then dribbled past the Newberry goalie and put the ball in the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.
Keystone, after Newberry scored a goal, had chances to increase its lead going into halftime, with Aaron Wiley missing a shot on a breakaway attempt and Colaw getting a close-in attempt that was off the mark.
Skylar Kedgley did find the mark on a second-half attempt that put the Indians ahead 3-1.
Luke Brunt and Tyler Shaw each finished with an assist for Keystone.
The Indians entered the match off an 8-0 win at Interlachen on Dec. 2, snapping a two-match losing streak.
Keystone scored all but one of its goals in the first half. The mercy rule was enforced 10 minutes into the second half when Colaw scored off a perfectly placed corner kick.
It was a big night for Spence and Chris Anderson, each of whom scored three goals. Colaw and Kedgley each had one.
All but one of the goals came off assists, with Shaw leading the way with two. Brunt, Colaw, Wiley, Jacob Lepanto and Micah Wiley each had one assist.
The Indians host Crescent City on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 7:20 p.m. and will travel to play Williston on Thursday, Dec. 9, at 7:15 p.m. Keystone hosts Palatka on Friday, Dec. 10, at 7:20 p.m. before traveling for matches against Fort White on Monday, Dec. 13, at 7:20 p.m., and P.K.
