Keystone Heights High School played in the Sept. 11-12 Wawa River City Classic at the Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association Training Center, winning two straight matches on Sept. 12 to finish with a 3-2 tournament record.
The Indians (10-7) opened the tournament with a 2-0 (25-14, 25-23) loss to The Rock on Sept. 11. Mia Rivera had six kills, seven digs and three aces, while Kaleigh Marquart had 12 assists. Sofia Zimmerman led the team in digs with 25, while Victoria Horne and Daisy Hubbard had 15 and nine, respectively.
Keystone got 19 assists, seven digs and five service aces from Marquart in a 2-1 (25-18, 24-26, 15-8) win over North Marion on Sept. 11. Rivera recorded 11 kills and six digs, while Zimmerman and Hubbard had 22 and nine digs, respectively. Horne and Bralee-Kate Chester each had two blocks.
Day two for Keystone began with a 2-0 (25-12, 25-20) loss to Providence on Sept. 12. Rivera had 11 digs, six kills and two blocks, while Zimmerman recorded 23 digs. Marquart tallied 10 assists, while Parker Collins had two blocks.
The Indians bounced back defeating Orange Park 2-0 (25-14, 25-15). Marquart recorded 16 assists, while Rivera had 15 digs and 10 kills. Zimmerman had 25 digs, while Grace Gilmore had three aces.
Keystone got 17 kills, 17 digs and two blocks from Rivera in a 2-1 (25-20, 17-25, 15-7) over Union County. Marquart had 22 assists, while Zimmerman again led the team in digs with 34. The Indians also got eight digs from Horne and seven digs from Hubbard.
The Indians travel to play Bishop Snyder on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m., following a junior varsity match at 6 p.m. Keystone will then travel to play St. Johns Country Day on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 6:30 p.m. The JV teams will play at 5:30 p.m.
On Monday, Sept. 21, Keystone hosts Baldwin, with matches scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
