Keystone Heights pushed 12 runs across in the first inning and had no trouble with a P.K. Yonge team that committed 12 errors, defeating the host Blue Wave 25-1 in three innings on March 8.
Pitcher Kadance Massey went the distance in the mercy rule-shortened game, giving up one hit and striking out four.
Kiley Channell hit singles in two at-bats in the first inning, driving in a total of three runs. Alaina Kinsal drove in two runs, while Amberlea Wagner drove in one on a double. The following each hit a one-run single in the inning: Kinley Carlton, Abbie Roach and Emma Rogel. The Indians also scored a run on an error.
Keystone (3-5) got run-scoring singles from Channell, Massey, Roach and Wagner as part of a six-run second inning. Carlton also drove in a run, while an error allowed another run to score.
Channell, who went 4 for 4 with six RBI, singled in two runs as part of a seven-run third. Massey and Rogel each hit an RBI single, while Roach drew a bases-loaded walk. Kaitlin Brown and Caitlin Frampton each drove in a run as well.
Roach went 4 for 4 with three RBI, while Rogel was 3 for 5 with two RBI. Massey finished 2 for 2 with two RBI, while Wagner (who had two RBI) and Jaiden Robinson each went 2 for 3.
Kinsal had two RBI, while Brown, Carlton and Frampton each had one.
The Indians travel to play Oakleaf on Tuesday, March 22, at 7 p.m. They then travel to play Clay on Friday, March 25, at 7 p.m.
