It was a tough outing for the Union County High School wrestling team at the Jan. 11 Billy Saylor Duals at Suwannee High School, but C.J. Ivey did earn three wins.
The tournament saw Union, as a team lose matches to Bay, Zephyrhills Christian, Florida High, Wakulla and Mosley.
Ivey, who wrestles in the 215-pound class, earned his first win in the team’s 47-18 loss to Florida High. He pinned Asher Bryner in 25 seconds.
Elijah Roberts (157 class) and Wyatt Elixson (165) also earned points, with Roberts pinning Myles Dupont in 49 seconds and Elixson pinning John Schee in 50 seconds.
In a 78-6 loss to Wakulla, Ivey pinned Wyatt Brown in 1:05.
Ivey recorded another pin in a 54-12 loss to Mosley, defeating James McMillan in 1:54.
Gavin Sparkman (138) had Union’s other win against Mosley, pinning Tenoch Gomez Nguyen in 58 seconds.
