A 46-year-old Lake Butler man was sentenced to four years’ probation and 296 days served for throwing a rock through a car window and other charges.
Dexter Dewin Edwards pleaded to throwing a missile into a vehicle, criminal mischief resulting in $1,000 or more in damage, resisting an officer without violence, and carrying a concealed firearm without a permit.
According to an arrest report, the victim told deputies the defendant threw a rock through her vehicle window, causing between $1,000 and $1,500 in damages. When deputies found the defendant nearby on a bicycle, Edwards squatted by a light pole and took a knife out of his backpack. After he dropped the weapon and was detained, deputies found a loaded handgun in the backpack.
