KEYSTONE HEIGHTS— Michael Dan Andrews, 48, of Keystone Heights, was sentenced to 34 days in jail and 24 months’ probation for the April 4 offense of fleeing and eluding.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Clay Deputy Joshua M. Byrne was patrolling the High Ridge Estates neighborhood when he saw the defendant riding a scooter without a tag.

When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the defendant made a U-turn, drove through a yard, jumped from the scooter, scaled a fence, and fled. A witness identified the defendant, and the deputy found a debit card belonging to Andrews in the abandoned scooter.
