Union County High School’s junior varsity baseball team has dominated most of its opponents this year in compiling a 7-0 record.
The Tigers, who’ve outscored opponents 72-15, defeated visiting Columbia 10-6 on March 16 prior to spring break. Ayden Androlevich and Bo Wilson each drove in two runs, with Androlevich going 2 for 2 at the plate.
Trent Klein and Carter Whitehead each had one RBI, with Klein going 3 for 4 with a double.
A 10-0 win at Gainesville on March 7 began a string of three games in which Union outscored opponents 32-1. Landon Miller, who went 2 for 3, Jack Johns and Jacob Scott each had two RBI, with Scott hitting a double.
Erick Lasseter, Evan Roberts and Gauge Robinson each had one RBI, with Robinson going 2 for 3. Lasseter hit a triple, while Roberts hit a double.
Starting pitcher Dallen Cox threw two innings, giving up no hits and striking out five.
Lasseter pitched two innings, giving up one hit and no walks, while striking out three.
Jesse Chaikin threw the final inning, giving up one hit.
On March 9, the Tigers got three RBI from Lasseter in an 11-1 win over visiting Columbia.
Lasseter, who went 2 for 3, drove in the game’s final two runs on home run.
Androlevich and Klein each went 2 for 3, with Androlevich driving in two runs. Jake Walker also had two RBI.
Cox had one RBI.
Staring pitcher Androlevich gave up one run on two hits through five innings.
Klein pitched the final inning, giving up one hit.
Two pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter in Union’s 11-0 win at Suwannee on March 14.
Johns pitched the first three innings, giving up just one walk, while Cash Cox gave up one walk and struck out three in the two innings.
Klein and Lasseter each had three RBI, with Lasseter going 2 for 3 with a triple and Klein going 2for 4 with a triple.
Androlevich, Chaikin, Walker and Cash Cox each had one RBI, with Chaikin hitting a triple.
Whitehead went 2 for 3.
Six players are batting at least .300 this season, with Androlevich leading the team with a .692 average. Lasseter and Klein are batting .533 and .524, respectively, while Walker is batting .417. Johns and Miller are batting .375 and .300, respectively.
Lasseter leads the team in RBI with nine, followed by Androlevich with eight, Klein and Walker with seven each, Johns and Wilson with five each, Robinson, Scott, Whitehead and Dallen Cox with three each, Miller with two and Chaikin, Roberts and Cash Cox with one each.
Androlevich is 2-0 as a pitcher, having given up one earned run and three unearned runs over 9.1 innings. Lasseter is 1-0 and has given up no earned runs and three unearned runs over seven innings.
Johns and Cash Cox have each pitched six innings and are each 1-0. Johns has given up no earned runs and one unearned run, while Cox has given up one earned run.
Robinson is 1-0 with four innings pitched. He’s given up two earned runs.
The Tigers travel to play Columbia on Tuesday, March 28, at 4 p.m. and will travel to Ocala to play Trinity Catholic on Thursday, March 30, at 4 p.m. They host Keystone Heights on Monday, April 3, at 4 p.m.
