Keystone Heights’ (2-8) Coach Chuck Dickinson said his offense could not keep pace with P.K. Yonge’s (3-7) high-powered offense after the Indians lost their season finale 35-22.
Dickinson noted that the visiting Blue Wave scored on five out of seven possessions.
“We scored on three out of six, I think,” the coach said after the game, “so we just didn’t keep up the scoring with them.”
The Indians’ Cartez Daniels racked up 221 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries, while backfield companion Bryar Schenck ran for 57 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.
Tyler Anthony Rozier led Keystone in tackles with eight, followed by Andrew Lowery III and Damien Dunlap with five each. Schenck and Kyle Perkins each had three defensive stops.
Dickinson added that the team worked hard throughout the game and did not give up.
As for the 2022, 2-8 campaign, the coach said he lost a lot of players from last year’s squad and that the current crop of freshmen and sophomores who saw ample playing time this season will only get better.
“Hopefully, that’ll be some experience we can build on next year,” he said.
