Keystone, Union’s Zapp compete at boys golf regionals

Alex Addington placed 19th out of 72 for Keystone Heights High School at the Nov. 1 Region 1-1A boys golf finals, which also included Union County’s Caleb Zapp.

The entire Keystone team competed at the event, which was held at Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra. The Indians finished 10th in the 12-team field with a score of 380.

Episcopal won the championship with a score of 297, while Pensacola Catholic (311) and Bolles (316) placed second and third, respectively.

The top three schools and top three individuals not on those teams automatically advance to state. An additional four at-large teams and individuals will be determined at a later date.

Addington led the Indians with an 18-hole score of 79, which was a 15-stroke improvement from his performance last season. He had two birdies and made par on 10 holes.

Nicholas Williams was the next-highest finisher for Keystone, tying for 47th with a score of 94. He made par on three holes.

Keystone’s Nick Binet and Union’s Zapp each shot a 102 to tie for 58th. Binet made par on one hole, while Zapp made par on two.

Logan Spence shot a 105 for Keystone, tying for 61st. He made par on three holes to improve his score from last season’s regionals by nine strokes.

Shepherd Rozier also competed for the Indians, making par on one hole and finishing with a 68th-place score of 114.
