KEYSTONE HEIGHTS—The Federal Aviation Administration awarded Clear Science Inc. a contract to provide weather observation services at 11 commercial airports in the western U.S.
Under the 5-year contract, the company will employ certified weather observers to enhance safety of flight by providing real-time updates of hazardous conditions and augmenting automated weather systems’ capabilities.
“The FAA contract underscores CSI’s capabilities as a weather-centric company”, said Clear Science President Bruce Ford. “From cutting-edge R&D to 24/7 aviation support, we are laser-focused on using weather information – past, present, and future – to reduce risk and enable our customers to make more informed decisions.”
The contract adds 75 certified weather observation personnel to Clear Science’s workforce, with sites at Centennial, Colorado Springs, and Denver, Colorado; Billings, Montana; Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada; Portland and Eugene, Oregon; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Seattle and Spokane, Washington.
Clear Science is a certified service-disabled veteran-owned small business based in Keystone Heights. The firm provides weather-related operational support, software development and maintenance, and risk management and decision support services.
Ford launched Clear Science in 2003, while working as a Navy meteorologist and oceanographer in Jacksonville.
He retired from the Navy in 2005 and eight years later he and his wife Jennifer moved to the Lake Region to start a farm.
Last year Jennifer started her own enterprise: The Learning Wheel enrichment center, party venue and tea room.
