PALATKA— Putnam deputies said John Junior Williams III of Keystone Heights exposed himself and performed a sex act while a female passenger was riding in his tow truck. The victim recorded the act on her cell phone. A tow truck camera also captured the crime on video.

According to the sheriff’s office, the trip began after the victim’s SUV broke down and she called her insurance carrier, which turned the call over to a local towing company.

The defendant carried on a conversation with the victim while performing the crime.

The sheriff’s office said that at the completion of the trip, Williams asked to come inside the victim’s home to complete paperwork after the ride. However, after seeing another person at the home, he left.

The sheriff’s office said that since COVID began, the towing company has eliminated the purported paperwork, and may have used the paperwork ruse to gain entry into the home and assault the victim.
