GREEN COVE SPRINGS— Clay County Commissioners appointed a Keystone Heights realtor to its Historic Preservation Board during a Sept. 28 meeting.
Deirdre Murphy previously served on the Keystone Heights Heritage Commission, which performs a similar role for the city as the Historic Preservation Board fulfills for the county.
Murphy also served on Keystone’s redevelopment advisory committee, which advised the city’s community redevelopment agency on improving the town’s central business district.
“From there I was in the Women’s Club and vice president of the Garden Club for probably four or five years,” she said in an interview.
Murphy is also a member of the Keystone Heights Rotary Club, and supports Lake Area Ministries and the Keystone Safety Net Alliance.
Originally from Southern California, Murphy worked in information technology for IBM and Blue Cross before entering the real estate industry.
In nominating Murphy for the post, County Commissioner Betsy Condon cited Murphy’s service on the Heritage Commission.
“She’s coming to us with experience (and she is) very committed,” Condon said.
