KEYSTONE HEIGHTS— City public works employees began tearing down playground equipment at Keystone’s Theme Park last week, located behind city hall near the municipality’s tennis courts.

City Manager Lynn Rutkowski said the old equipment will be replaced by one, large, reconfigurable piece previously owned by Community Church.

She added that the church first approached the city several years ago about the religious group selling the equipment to the city for $10,000.  After several years of negotiations, the organizations settled on a price of $5,000.

Rutkowski said the project should be completed this week.
