Keystone Heights High School was looking to reach a district-championship match for the first time since 2020, but the Indians will have to try again next season after losing 3-1 to third seed Eastside in the semifinals of the District 4-3A tournament on Jan. 28 in Alachua.
The second seed Indians got their lone goal from Kipton Spence off a Sammy Wacha assist.
Keystone is currently ranked sixth in the Florida High School Athletic Association/MaxPreps Region 1 power rankings, so it’s conceivable the team could receive an at-large berth in the Region 1 playoffs, which begin Tuesday, Feb. 11.
The power rankings will be updated once all district tournaments are completed. Regional qualifiers will be announced by the FHSAA on Friday, Jan. 31.
