KHHS’ Brooks is medalist in girls golf match

Keystone Heights High School’s Aubrey Brooks took first place in an Oct. 3 girls golf match against Gainesville at Ironwood Golf Course.

Though it didn’t count as a team win, with Gainesville having only three players, the Indians had three of the top four individuals and finished with a composite score of 249.

Brooks made par on two holes and had a score of 52, while teammate Rebecca Binet, who also made par on two holes, was second with a score of 55. Binet finished 10 strokes ahead of third-place finisher Kayla Vo of Gainesville.

Jasmine Walls shot a fourth-place score of 68, while Emily Cunningham and Jillian Huntley placed sixth and eighth, respectively, with scores of 74 and 76.

Averi Hemphill was ninth at 79.

Keystone was coming off an Oct. 1 match at The Golf Club at Fleming Island in which it placed third against Fleming Island and Oakleaf.

The Indians had a team score of 281, which left them trailing Fleming by 93 strokes and Oakleaf by 53 strokes.

Brooks and Binet placed sixth and seventh, respectively, with scores of 63 and 65. Binet was the only golfer outside of the top five to make par on a hole.

Keystone got scores of 76 from Walls, 77 from Cunningham and 81 from Hemphill.
