KHHS earns 13 first-team All-Clay picks in spring sports

Keystone Heights High School had student-athletes honored in baseball, softball, tennis and weightlifting with the release of the All-Clay County teams in spring sports.

The boys weightlifting team had seven of the 13 first-team honors Keystone earned: Elijah Mize (119-pound class), Colton Hollingsworth (129), Kyle Perkins (199) and Trase Wooden (219) in traditional and Hollingsworth, Layton Wright (169) and Jackson Herman (unlimited) in Olympic.

Keystone had seven weightlifters earned second-team honors: Mize, Perkins, Wooden and Brayden Wester (238) in traditional and Wester, Damien Dunlap (154) and Zane Leger (199) in Olympic.

Earning honorable mention in Olympic were Dylan Currington (119) and Pete Bostic (238), while Currington, Bostic, Herman and Wright earned honorable mention in traditional.

Five from KHHS were honored in baseball, with three being named to the first team: pitcher Guage Barry, pitcher/infielder Ty Mitzel and infielder Austin Smith.

Infielder Destin Harnage was a second-team baseball selection, while catcher/infielder Andrew Wilson received honorable mention.

The flag football team had two first-team offensive selections in quarterback Alee Horton and wide receiver Riley Shuford. Wide receiver Alex Papaiannou was a second-team offensive pick, while linebacker Alyssa Sanford was a second-team defensive pick.

Earning honorable mention in flag football were wide receiver Ashlyn Brown and defensive back Ashly McCarthy.

Keystone’s other first-team honoree was Dalton Moore in boys tennis. The team also produced a second-team selection in Will Begue.

The girls tennis team’s Whitnee Buchanan earned honorable mention.

Keystone infielder/pitcher Kadence Massey was a second-team pick in softball. Catcher Amber Wagner received honorable mention.
