KHHS earns 23 at-large berths for state in traditional, snatch events

Keystone Heights High School will have a total of 15 compete in the traditional event at the Saturday, April 23, Class 1A boys weightlifting state finals, while 16 will compete in the snatch event.

The Indians had four in each event earn automatic bids due to winning their weight classes at the April 8 Region 2 finals: Ulysses Freed (154-pound class), Logan Williams (169), Caleb Moncrief (238) and Mason Dicks (unlimited) in the traditional event and Freed, Bryar Schenck (183), Trey Jeffries (219) and Moncrief in the snatch.

Once all of Class 1A’s regional totals were in, 12 at-large qualifiers were selected to join four regional champions in each weight class at state, which will be hosted by Port St. Joe High School.

Keystone had 11 earn at-large berths in the traditional event: Declan Shine (119), Wyatt Van Zant (129), Reid Begue (129), Landon Hovsepian (154), Nathan Tisdale (169), Tyler Jenkins (183), Clayton Kicklighter (183), Bryson Wester (199), Jeffries, Tyler Anthony-Rozier (219) and Luke Snider (unlimited).

In the snatch, the Indians had 12 earn at-large berths: Shine, Van Zant, Begue, Davin Adams (139), Sam Ulsch (154), Tisdale, Ben Ulsch (169), Jenkins, Jayden Goodman (199), Jackson Herman (238), Dicks and Snider.
